Rockbox is open source software and can be modified by anyone who would like to do it. There is a plugin system for Rockbox that is used to implement games etc. Take a look at the http://rockbox.org for more info. - Sciurus

Moe:

Thanks for mentioning that. The possibility to choose between both the native firmware and Rockbox during system start is a very important feature, particularly to people who just want to give Rockbox a try. - Sciurus

Rockbox has a dual boot feature (as well as the ability to auto-update its database to keep up with iTunes inserted files). So, if you want to use rockbox just to play games, thats fine. With a couple of key presses, you are back in normal iPod mode. - Moe

Hi konk,

you will have to install Rockbox on the iPod. However, that means that you will also have to use Rockbox for listening to music etc. I use it since about 1.5 years and I really like it. But then I do not have an iPod.

See http://rockbox.org for details on how to install/use it. - Sciurus
