Provoking stalemate in a lost position 2008/03/01 11:35 Karma: 2
I just managed to convert a lost game into a stalemate. After playing hundreds of games, this is my very first stalemate. During the game, I messed up a couple of times costing me material. This made me so angry with myself, that I refused to resign (which I usually do) and simply moved my king into the corner.

After the game, I felt bad for my opponent, who clearly deserved to win. Would it have been more ethical to resign?

I clearly believe that provoking stalemate is steel a good way to demonstrate that you can overcome the bad situations. I do not see unfair in this case to oblige to demonstrate your opponent that to win a whole point it's not only necessary a blunder of the contrary.
