New or noteworthy chess blogs and websites 2007/06/11 14:43 Karma: 2
Found a new chess blog you like? Feel that your favorite chess site needs some attention? Or did you even start a new blog on your own and nobody visits it? Post links to and descriptions of chess-related blogs/sites in this thread.

To start, here are some good meta resources on chess blogs:

  1. The Boylston Chess Club Weblog.
This blog is the probably best and most up-to-date resource on the chess blogosphere. Take a look at the well maintained blogroll!

  2. chess.about.com
The chess section of about.com edited by Mark Weeks, another great resource on chess blogs. For all of you who do not have the time and patience to dig through hundreds of chess blogs, take a look at the top chess blogs list!

Hardcore Pawnography 2007/06/11 15:01 Karma: 2
One of my recent discoveries found on somebody's blogroll (seems blogrolls are important even in the age of the search engine):

Hardcore Pawnography

yes, it is about chess and this is not written by some spambot and as one would expect it from the name, the posts are fun to read.

That is a great site! Thanks for the link, I will include it in the link section.

The explanations of the tactical themes are really really well written and should be great particularly for beginners. To top things off, you can even practice tactics there. The title, "Predator at the Chess Board" is cool, too.

I saw that one ages ago but forgot about it. Thanks for reminding me about it. May be I can appreciate this site more today because I know more about chess. The chess records page is certainly interesting.

New on blogroll: hisbestfriend 2007/07/08 11:32 Karma: 2
It always surprises me how many chess blogs are out there. I think I found this one on Takchess' blogroll:

Let me tell you about my best friend

I enjoyed his rant about chess software user interfaces and couldn't help myself clicking through the older posts as well.

New chess blog: Chess Endgames 2007/07/18 14:54 Karma: 2
There is now a chess blog dedicated to chess endgames, named "Chess Endgames". It contains some nice chess videos with very well made endgame lessons.

Hat tip to Edwin for writing a post about this excellent blog.

New chess blog: On the Road to GM 2007/07/31 14:42 Karma: 2
Just found another chess blog while browsing through my site statistics. Chess - On the way to GM is linking here and has a couple of fun to watch Kasparov videos posted. Take a look at this post for an example of a chess pro getting mad after blundering - seems it happens to ALL of us

New chess website: Gambetto.com 2007/08/07 12:01 Karma: 2
There is a new kid on the block: Gambetto is a new site based on Joomla!, just like SquirrelChess.com. I always enjoy browsing over new chess sites but if they are running on Joomla! we can even share some know-how
