One year ago, the Getting Into Chess blog officially moved into its new home here at SquirrelChess.com. And I can say it was good for my chess. How? After all, writing random stuff about chess and whining about my all too frequent losses takes valuable time from my chess training. Well, about two weeks ago, I proved that studying openings for White actually improved my winning chances. I almost always play 1. d4 in my games with the white pieces and it seems that my newly acquired not-that-secret opening powers bear fruit: I just played a blitz game at the Internet Chess Club (ICC) that went like this: 1. d4! Black resigned.. Apparently my opponents are now so scared of my d4 opening preparation that they resign right away! Come on guys! Let us play at least a few moves to give me some rating points to chew on! Fortunately, my readership is pretty small so there is still some hope that I will find some opponents who risk playing Black against me. And to everybody who actually read my blog, I'd like to make clear that my winning percentage with White might be higher than with Black, but it is still below 50%. So let's play chess!
