Chess position, mate in 3 The diagram shows the position after black moved 6. ... Nd7. Of course, I missed the winning combination and ended up losing in the endgame after falling for a simple knight fork - when will I ever learn to avoid these? It always works the same way: I see that my opponent has chances to fork, say, my king and rook in the endgame and make a defensive move, thinking "I don't fall into this kind of trap anymore!" After the knight makes one or two more hops around my rook, however, I forget about it and lose my rook to a fork.

Back to the position shown from the beginning of the game. How can white secure the win?

I devoted almost all my chess study this past year to tactics, tactics, tactics. And have gotten pretty good at solving tactical problems. But during a game I'm barely better than I used to be.
