This position is from a game I played today at the Internet Chess Club (ICC). I was planning on playing a reasonably slow paced game (30 min with 10 s increment) but my opponent moved as if we would play blitz chess. This turned out to be good for me because I am convinced that he would have beaten me if he would actually have spend some time thinking. The game ended up in a king and pawns endgame. I had one pawn more but sacrificed it trying to obtain an advantage that did not materialize. Black succeeded to fix my pawns on the kingside and fooled me into accepting a draw offer after making a mistake. Take a look at the endgame if you need some motivation to study pawn endgames! (for a less than perfect example, that is).
The image shows the position after black played 27. ... Kh8. What is the best move for white in this situation? The complete game as well as the correct move 28. for white according to Shredder can be found in the annotated game.
