Wednesday August 9th 2006, an unusual blitz chess tournament will happen on the North Sea's ground before the German island Baltrum. The annual "Schachwatt" tournament starts between high and low tide when the water is running off and the rising water of the upcoming tide will add to the pressure on the participants of what is described as the "only lightning chess tournament on the bottom of the sea". See here for details and a photo of last year's event (in German, English translation here).
