A tribute to Temposchlucker: my 10000th tactics problem PDF Print E-mail

This morning I finally broke through the 10000 problem barrier at the Chess Tactics Server (CTS). I dedicate the 10000th problem to Temposchlucker, who relentlessly plowed his way through countless problems on the quest for chess mastery. Incidentally, Tempo just announced that he will stop blogging about chess. He will be missed in the chess blogoshere, particularly his rare ability to criticize himself.

Special thanks to DG from the Boylston Chess Club Weblog who is working hard to keep the chess blogosphere together and without whom I wouldn't have noticed Temposchlucker's last post (somehow it got past my RSS reader).

This interface is freaking me out

Way to go on 10,000. That's pretty intense.

This interface is very unique. It's allowing me to leave a title.

Blue Devil:

the count of 10,000 looks more than it is. I wouldn't call 50 per day particularly intense. In fact, this morning I had only 40 to go for the 10,000, so I did even less than 50 - simply had to stop tactics and start bragging here smilies/grin.gif

Yes, I am also not sure what the title thing is good for. But I am too lazy to do something about it and most people just leave it empty anyway.
Congratulations!

I've only just started out on the Chess Tactics Server, so I'm seriously impressed that you have got 10,000 problems under your belt! Have you achieved an improvement in your rating at the site?

Thanks. I did not see much impact on my rating at CTS. At the beginning, it went straight down because the starting point of 1400 is way above me smilies/cry.gif Then I had a nice upwards trend for a couple of months followed by stagnation. At the moment, it is going down again, mostly because I take things slower and put the priority on getting things right instead of fast.
